Terms of Service
Your agreement to these terms
Welcome to Kambani. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Kambani mobile app and our website at kambani.live (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Kambani provides a free language-learning app for Zambian languages. These Terms are a legal agreement between you and Kambani.
Who may use Kambani
Kambani is intended for personal, non-commercial use. You may use the Service only if you can form a legally binding contract under the laws that apply to you, or have your parent or guardian’s permission if you are not of age to do so. You must provide accurate information when you create your account and keep it up to date.
Kambani is not directed at young children. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle children’s information.
Your account and security
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us promptly. We may suspend or close an account if we believe it has been used in a way that violates these Terms.
One person may create one account. Accounts created automatically, by scripts, or to evade these Terms are not permitted.
Acceptable use
When using Kambani, you agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or harassing purpose;
- Impersonate another person, or choose a username that misleads others or that you do not have the right to use;
- Attempt to access, disrupt, or overload the Service, its systems, or its data, or try to reverse-engineer it;
- Interfere with other learners’ use of the Service, for example by spamming, bullying, or stalking through the friend features; or
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, or scripts) to access or collect data from the Service, except as these Terms allow.
Lessons and content
The lessons, exercises, audio, artwork, and other learning materials in Kambani are owned by Kambani and its licensors, and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may use them for your own learning through the Service, but you may not copy, redistribute, publish, or build a derivative product from them without permission.
You retain ownership of the answers, comments, and other content you submit through the Service (for example, when you report an issue with an exercise). By submitting it, you give Kambani the limited permission needed to operate and improve the Service, such as reviewing and acting on your feedback.
Kambani Super and virtual currency
During our beta, the optional “Kambani Super” subscription is provided free, and the in-app currency (gems) can only be earned by learning, not bought with real money. If paid features are introduced in the future, they will be subject to additional terms shown clearly at the time of purchase, and any payments will be handled by the platform you buy from (Apple’s App Store or Google Play), whose own terms also apply.
Virtual items like gems, hearts, and streaks have no monetary value, are not currency, and cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged for real money.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Kambani reliable, but we do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may update, change, pause, or stop features, lessons, or the Service itself at any time without notice, and we are not liable to you for doing so.
Disclaimer
Kambani is provided for general educational and entertainment purposes. The Service and all lessons are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not promise that the Service will meet your requirements, that any language instruction will be accurate or complete, or that it will be suitable for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kambani and its team, licensors, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, streaks, progress, or virtual items, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Where the law implies warranties or limits liability that cannot be excluded, those implications apply, and nothing in these Terms overrides rights you may have under your local consumer-protection laws.
Closing your account
You can stop using Kambani at any time. To request that your account and associated data be deleted, contact us at the email below. We may also suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or if we decide to stop offering the Service. When your account closes, your right to use the Service ends, and these Terms (except those that by their nature should survive) stop applying.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and, for material changes, let you know in the app or on our website. Continued use of Kambani after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
