Yes. Kambani is free to download and learn with. Every lesson, language, and feature you need to learn is available without paying. During our beta, the optional Kambani Super subscription is also provided free.

Seven Zambian languages: Bemba, Nyanja (Chewa), Tonga, Lozi, Kaonde, Lunda, and Luvale. You can learn more than one — pick them up from the Languages list in the app.

Open the app and sign up with your email address, a username, and a password. You can also sign in with Google or Apple. We'll send a verification link to your email — verify it so you can recover your account.

Your streak counts the number of days in a row you've met your daily goal. Complete a lesson (or enough practice) before the day ends in your time zone to keep it going. Your time zone is set automatically from your device.

A streak freeze protects your streak on a day you don't meet your goal, so you don't lose your progress. You can earn or receive freezes, and a friend can gift you one too. Freezes are limited, so use them for the days you really need.

Hearts are your tries during a lesson — a mistake costs a heart. When you run out, you can wait for them to refill or practice to earn more. Gems are earned by learning and can be spent in the shop on items like freezes. Gems can't be bought with real money.

Your daily goal is part of each language you're learning. You can adjust it from your profile or settings in the app, along with reminder times and notification preferences.

Add a friend by searching for their exact username — friends can't be found by email or phone number, and we never upload your contacts. Once they accept your request, you can see each other's lesson activity and send streak-freeze gifts.

Kambani doesn't have private messaging. Between friends we share limited things like usernames, avatars, lesson activity, and streak-freeze gifts — there's no chat, and no photo or video sharing.

You can edit your username and your notification preferences (daily reminders, streak reminders, quiet hours, and more) in Settings within the app. For privacy details, see our Privacy Policy.

Email us at legal@kambani.app from the address on your account and we'll delete your account and associated data within a reasonable time.

Use the “Forgot password” link on the sign-in screen to get a reset email. Make sure your email is verified. If you're still stuck, reach us at hello@kambani.app.
